Colores Del Futuro
Creating opportunities for creativity, belonging, and connection through the arts in migrant housing communities throughout Stanislaus County.
About Colores del Futuro
Colores del Futuro is a grassroots arts initiative that brings creative programming directly into migrant housing communities throughout Stanislaus County. Through hands-on workshops led by local artists, poets, musicians, and community members, participants engage in visual arts, storytelling, music, and other multidisciplinary arts experiences without needing to leave their communities. By removing barriers such as transportation, cost, and access, the program helps ensure that children and families can participate in meaningful arts opportunities where they live.
The program primarily serves seasonal farmworker families residing in migrant housing centers. Workshops are designed to create welcoming spaces where children, youth, and families can explore their creativity, learn new skills, and participate in collaborative projects that encourage self-expression and shared learning. Activities are family-centered and accessible to participants of all ages and experience levels.
In addition to arts programming, Colores del Futuro helps strengthen connections between migrant housing communities and the broader Stanislaus County region. Through community partnerships and outreach, families are introduced to local events, educational opportunities, and resources that may otherwise be difficult to access. These connections help build greater awareness of available services while encouraging ongoing community participation.
Founded by Veronica Torres, whose family has deep roots in migrant farmworker communities, Colores del Futuro is grounded in the belief that every child deserves access to creative opportunities that inspire confidence, curiosity, and belonging. Drawing from lived experience and community relationships, the program is committed to meeting families where they are and creating opportunities that reflect their strengths, experiences, and aspirations.
The name Colores del Futuro—"Colors of the Future"—reflects the idea that creativity can open doors to possibility, imagination, and growth. Through the arts, the program encourages young people to see themselves as creators, storytellers, and active participants in shaping their futures.
Mission
Colores del Futuro brings multidisciplinary arts programming directly into migrant housing communities throughout Stanislaus County through visual arts, poetry, music, storytelling, and creative expression. By meeting families where they are, we help expand access to the arts while creating opportunities for children, youth, and families to explore their creativity, build meaningful connections, and engage in welcoming community-centered spaces.
Vision
We envision a future where every child and family has equitable access to the arts, regardless of location or circumstance. By bridging gaps in access and bringing creative opportunities directly into communities, we strive to ensure that children and families feel seen, valued, connected, and empowered through the transformative power of the arts.

A special thank you to my daughter, Eli, who has been helping with Colores del Futuro since she was five years old. Whether packing supplies, creating art, welcoming participants, helping prepare materials, or simply bringing her creativity and energy into each session, she has been part of this journey from the very beginning.
Watching her grow alongside this project has been one of the greatest gifts of this work. Her kindness, imagination, and willingness to help have touched countless children and families over the years. This program would not be the same without her.
Thank you, Eli, for helping bring color, creativity, and joy into the lives of so many children and families.
